Funding to support activities of EBLC's is provided by the DfES through the Learning and Skills Council (LSC) who provide national co-ordination. Each Consortium will work closely with its local LSC to ensure that local needs are met. EBLC's have responsibility for the DfES funding for KS4 work experience and the Professional Development Placement (PDP) scheme.
The Federation of Education Business Links Consortia is a membership organisation bringing together the local Education Business Links Consortia.
The purpose of the Federation is:
- To promote the recognition of EBL Consortia as key strategic partners in the planning and provision of education business link activities
- To facilitate communication between those responsible for the operation of EBL Consortia
- Undertake to determine the collective view of its members and represent such view in appropriate fora, including DfES and the LSC
- Influence and lobby policy makers and funders of education business link activities for the purpose of enhancing such activities
- Engage with other organisations that have related interests, and with the business and education communities
- Develop initiatives and support mechanisms, which benefit EBL Consortia
- Encourage networking and dissemination of best practice between Consortia
Membership
- Membership is open to any EBL Consortium, which agrees to support the Objectives of the Federation
- For the purposes of determining eligibility for membership, an EBL Consortium is defined as the organisation contracted by the Learning and Skills Council to manage education business link activities across a Local Learning and Skills Council area
- Each Member Consortium shall designate an individual to be its Representative who shall normally be the person responsible for managing the Consortium contract
- Each Representative shall whenever possible support the collective view of their own Consortium as opposed to the views of individual members of that Consortium
- The Federation is bound by its Memorandum and Articles of Association, which detail procedures relating to corporate governance
- The Federation will be operated as a not-for-profit organisation
- The affairs of the Federation will be governed by an Executive Committee consisting of:
- The Officers of the Federation (Chair, Vice Chair, Secretary and Treasurer)
- Three Councillors representing the North, Central and Southern England
